Kathmandu, Nepal: Going against the sentiment of the local leaders and the people in general, the ruling CPN Maoist Center has officially decided to split Terai districts from the hill of the Province number 5.
A politburo meeting of the party held on Tuesday made the decision to separate hill districts from Province 5 to join in the province number four and six.
If the Maoist decision was implemented, Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi and some parts of Rolpa will be included in Province four and remaining part of Rolpa will be included in province number 6.
CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the Prime Minister of the country, informed to the meeting about the constitution amendment proposal that is being prepared to amend the constitution.
According to him, the decision to split Terai from hill is being made to take into confidence to the agitating Madhes based parties.
Though, the Maoist Center has made the decision from its Politburo meeting, most of the leaders represent from the districts including leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi strongly objected to Dahal’s proposal to split Province number 5. It is said that Rayamajhi had challenged to oppose the party decision.
