Guwahati, July 19 : Forest guards had recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition after a fierce gun with a poacher gang in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district along with Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Thursday.
The incident took place at Tinkupani reserve forest area under Jagun forest range office.
During routine patrolling, a forest guard team had spotted a temporary camp of poachers inside the reserve forest.
When the forest guard team had reached the area, the poachers started firing and retaliated by the forest guard.
The poachers had managed to flee from the area, but forest guards had busted the temporary camp and recovered six guns with several rounds ammunition, other items from the area.
“During routine patrolling we had spotted a temporary camp of poachers inside the reserve forest and immediately rushed to the area. When we reached the area, the poacher gang and started firing and heavy rounds of bullet exchanged from both sides. The poacher gang had managed to escape from the area, but we recovered six guns, ammunition and other items from the area,” a forest officer said.
