Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday had filed a charge sheet before the NIA court in Guwahati by accusing eight persons in the grenade lobbing case in the capital city of Assam.
The premier investigating agency had filed the charge sheet before the NIA court in Guwahati in case no RC-04/2019/NIA/GUW against eight persons.
The charge sheet named Pappu Koch Bokoliyal alias Bijoy Asom alias Anvi alias Rajini, Jahnabee Saikia, Pranamoy alias Pranmay Rajguru, Chinmoy Lahkar, Indra Mohan Bora, Amrit Ballav Goswami, Sankib Talukdar and Prakash Rajkonwar.
NIA had filed the charge sheet under sections 120B, 121, 121A, 122, 307 & 326 of IPC, sections 25 (1B) & 35 of the Arms Act, sections 3 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act and sections 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 & 39 of UAPA.
The accused persons have been charged for conspiracy and indulging in terrorist acts and unlawful activities, waging war against India, conspiracy to wage war against India, illegal possession of arms and ammunition, illegal possession and use of explosive substances, harbouring of ULFA (I) terrorist, providing support to ULFA (I) terrorists and associating with ULFA (I) terrorists.
It is to be mentioned that, 12 persons including two SSB jawans were injured in the grenade blast took place in front of Central Mall, Guwahati on May 15 this year.
The NIA has revealed that, Pappu Koch was the ULFA (I) terrorist who lobbed the grenade.
"In this terrorist act, he was assisted by Chinmoy Lahkar and he was riding a motorcycle and Pappu Koch was riding pillion withChinmoy, when Pappu Koch lobbed the grenade on the security personnel on May 15. Jahnabee Saikia had provided transportation and shelter to Pappu Koch and was also actively involved in unlawful activities. Jahnabee Saikia was also involved in the conspiracy to commit terrorist acts and she had also concealed arms, ammunition and explosive substances in her rented house. Pranmay Rajguru and Sankib Talukdar were involved in conspiracy, unlawful activities and in providing help and support to Pappu Koch in committing the terrorist act. Pranmay Rajguru was also in joint possession of arms, ammunition and explosive substances along with Pappu and Jahnabee Saikia. Indra Mohan Bora has provided shelter and support to Pappu Koch. Indra Mohan Bora is also closely associated with ULFA (I) and provided support to ULFA (I) in committing terrorist acts and other unlawful activities. Amrit Ballav Goswami and Prakash Rajkonwar were involved in the conspiracy of ULFA (I) to create an independent country of Assam. They were directly associated with ULFA (I) and provided support to ULFA (I) for committing terrorist acts and other unlawful activities," said in the charge sheet.
Guwhaati city police had arrested Pranmay Rajguru and Jahnabee Saikia along with arms and ammunition.
Further investigation against other accused persons continues.
