Coronavirus infection tally reached to 38,561after 1,221 new cases including 429 in Kathmandu valley reported in the past 24 hours

Kathmandu, Nepal, August 30, 2020:  Nepal's coronavirus (COVID-19) infection tally reached to 38,561after 1,221 new cases reported in the past 24 hours. Of the newly-infected persons, 883 are males while 348 are females. 

Dr. Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), said on Sunday during a regular press briefing that 1,221 persons tested positive for COVID-19 while conducting 12,717 PCR tests at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours. 

According to Gautam, of the newly reported cases, 429 were from Kathmandu valley alone. He also stated during the virtual briefing that of the newly-confirmed cases, Kathmandu district alone reported 373 cases while Bhaktapur 45 and Lalitpur 12, he said during the regular press briefing. 

Meanwhile, 276 persons, who were earlier diagnosed with COVID-19; have been discharged after recovery from various health institutions across the country in the past 24 hours. With this addition, the country's COVID-19 recovery tally stands at 20,822.

Likewise, the deaths related to the coronavirus have reached to 221 after 14 persons died in the past 24 hours. This is the single day record high due to the infection of coroavirus in Nepal.
