Guwahati : As part of the ongoing confidence building measures between India and Myanmar and in order to further consolidate the ties, Indo-Myanmar Post Level Meetings were held between Assam Rifles and Myanmar Army at nine different locations in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram on Saturday to celebrate the 70th Republic Day.
 
The Indo-Myanmar Post Level Meeting mechanism was started as a confidence building measure to resolve local boundary issues and has been instrumental in maintaining strict vigil along the International Border between the two nations.
 
The Indian delegations extended a warm welcome to the members of the Myanmarese delegations and expressed the hope that coming together of troops from both sides will facilitate development of mutual cooperation.
 
The Myanmarese delegation extended its compliments for the 70th Republic Day celebrations.
 
Apart from cultural programmes both the delegations also engaged in friendly sports events.
 
In the spirit of the celebrations both sides noted with satisfaction the progress made in ensuring peace and security along the Indo-Myanmar Border and hoped that such interactions will continue to foster the environment of mutual confidence and understanding.
