Kathmandu, Nepal, July 17, 2023: Office bearers’ meeting of the Nepali Congress is being held today to discuss the agenda to be submitted to the central committee meeting starting tomorrow.
According to the secretariat of the party chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, the official meeting is going to be held today at 2 o'clock at Deuba's residence Dhumbarahi. Apart from the current office bearers, outgoing working committee office bearers have also been invited to the meeting.
The meeting of the Central Committee of Nepali Congress was supposed to be held on July 12, but it was postponed for Wednesday after the death of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's wife Sita Dahal.
It is said that the date of the party's policy session will be decided at the meeting of the central committee which will be held from tomorrow.
According to the constitution of the Nepali Congress, the policy convention should be held within 6 months of the party's general convention, but even after years have passed since the last convention, the policy convention has not been organized yet.
It is said that due to internal disputes within the party, the date of the policy convention could not be fixed. However, the issue of setting the date of the policy session was not even discussed in the previous meeting of the Central Committee.
