Kathmandu, Nepal: In the mean time when impeachment motion and court procedure is going on against the Chief Commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki, remaining four Commissioners of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) have also been dragged into controversies.

A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday against the appointment of four commissioners including acting Chief Commissioner Deep Kumar Basnyat and three other commissioners- Savitri Gurung, Ganesh Raj Joshi and Navin Kumar Ghimire of the CIAA.

Daksha Bahadur  Kshetri filed a petition against the four commissioners claiming that they did not fulfill the constitutional qualifications as provisioned in Article 119 (5) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal.

The petitioner has raised a question over the qualification of the commissioners though the defendants had served in the government. The commissioners needed to have 20 years of experience in the field of accounts, revenue, engineering, law, development and research but no commissioners have such qualifications, the petitioner has claimed in the writ.
