Kathmandu, Nepal, April 19, 2022: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has refused to issue an interim order on a writ petition filed by Prithvi Bahadur Shah, who had filed a writ petition demanding court order to release his money brought from the United States.
Responding to the writ petition filed by Shah on behalf of the World Export and Import Private Limited on July 27 last year, a division bench of justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Kumar Chudal passed the verdict on Monday not to issue an interim order against the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal
As many as six writ petitions were filed at the SC demanding interim order to stop the ongoing investigation of NRB into 15 bank accounts opened in the name of Shah, his kin, employees and different companies.
Though the SC has refused to issue an interim order to the central bank to release the money, the bench, however, has decided to send the writ petition for a final hearing. The NRB has been blocking the sum brought by Shah citing some suspicious activities. It is said that Shah had brought about 400 million rupees from different companies in America.
