Kathmandu, Nepal, June 25, 2024: United States of America (USA) has extended congratulations to the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal for the successful contract award for its second substation! 

As part of implementing the Millennium Challenge Corporation - MCC Nepal Compact, MCA-Nepal signed the contract with Techno Electric and Engineering Company Ltd. from India to construct the 400 kV substation at Ratmate in Belkotgadhi Municipality -7 in Nuwakot district. Once completed, the new US$ 51.6 million Ratmate Substation will have a capacity of 1000 Mega Volt Ampere, making it one of the largest substations in the country, the US embassy in Kathmandu has stated. 

The Ratmate Substation will enable power transmission between the Lapsiphedi and New Hetauda Substations. This is a significant step forward in the US Nepal partnership to enhance Nepal's power infrastructure, bringing us closer to our shared vision of sustainable development and energy security, states the embassy.
