Cabinet picks Dr. Dinesh Chandra Pokhrel as the acting chief of the Nepal Police

Kathmandu, Nepal: Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening decided to appoint Additional Inspector General (AIG) Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokharel as the acting Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP).

An emergency meeting held on Monday evening at prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s official resident decided to pick Pokhrel, who is the director of Nepal Police Hospital, as the acting IGP.

Pokhrel was appointed as the acting IGP after the newly appointed Jaya Bahadur Chanda’s appointed as the IGP was stayed by the Supreme Court (SC).

Pokhrel will lead the Nepal Police as the acting chief till the Supreme Court’s final verdict come on the appointment row.

Similarly, Nepal Police’s IG Upendra Kant Aryal and seven other AIGPs are retiring from Monday.
