Guwahati, March 14 : Before sworn in as the first BJP Chief Minister in Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh has now faces under road block from the Naga People's Front (NPF) after the party demanding their all four MLAs ministerial berths.
The NPF also demanded similar berths of four other Naga MLAs with important portfolios.
The NPF's demand came to light after its Manipur unit President Awangbung Newmai wrote an official letter to the BJP's Manipur unit President and demanded their MLAs ministerial berths with important portfolios.
In the letter, NPF demanded to induct its four MLAs in the the council of ministers.
The party demanded a cabinet berth of L Daiko, who elected from the Mao constituency.
Apart from L Daiko, the NPF's Manipur unit demanded to induct Awangbung Newmai, who was elected from the Tamei constituency, as a Parliamentary Secretary with portfolios of Hill and Tribal development, Minor Irrigation and Works.
NPF also demanded to induct Khasim Vashum, who was elected from the Chingai constituency as a Parliamentary Secretary with portfolios of Planning and Public Health Engineering, K Leishio (MLA of Phungyar constituency) as a Parliamentary Secretary with portfolios of Irritation, Flood Control and Rural Development.
Apart from its four MLAs, the NPF also demanded for ministerial berths of other four Naga MLAs.
Ahead of the new government sworn in, the NPF's demand added another twist following BJP had claimed majority strength in the 60-member Manipur assembly with support of four NPF MLAs.
