Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam has improved after the water levels in the flood-hit areas are receded, but still over 21 lakh people of 17 districts in the state are still affected in the current flood.

With one more deaths, total death toll mounted to 84 so far.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), one person drowned in flood waters in Barpeta district in past 24 hours.

1,716 number of villages in 56 revenue circles and 1,14,938 hectares of crop land are still under water.

Presently, 615 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat and Jorhat districts with 99,659 inmates and 49 Relief Distribution Centres in Sonitpur, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Kamrup and Morigaon districts.
