Kathmandu, Nepal, December 29, 2020: Recent political development emerged with the sudden dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has dragged attentions of the international communities, particularly the neighboring China and India.
Northern neighbor China has already sent a four-member team led by Guo Yenzhou, a vice-minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, in Nepal on the name of assessing the recent political development of the country.
Though visiting purpose of the Chinese delegation is termed as friendly exchange of visit between the two communist parties of Nepal and China, the delegation has been making a desperate attempt to patch-up the souring relationship between the two factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
However, political analysts have termed that Beijing would have sent the delegation to contain the possible influence of India by taking advantage the split in the ruling NCP.
In the last two days, Guo led team has been holding separate talks with Nepalese leaders centering their concerns that the ruling NCP should not have split. It is said that the delegation, which is staying in Kathmandu for two more days, would hold meetings with many leaders to seek possible alliance between the two factions.
The delegation has already held separate meetings with resident Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Oli, former Prime Ministers- Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and Baburam Bhattarai.
Reliable source close to the leaders, who have met with the Chinese delegations, have said that China wants to see strong communist party in Nepal. The delegation inquired about the reason behind the split in the party and a possibility to patch-up the differences between the two factions.
Responding to the concerns of the Chinese delegation, the Dahal and Nepal had conveyed a message that the NCP would remain unbroken only if the HoR was restored from the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister Oli becomes ready not to split the party by confessing his past mistakes.
It is said that Chinese delegation expressed dismay over the recent political development during the meeting with Prime Minister Oli. It is said that the Chinese delegation has left a clear message to the Prime Minister Oli should not have dissolved the HoR to keep the party intact.
The international communities, particularly the southern neighbor India has expressed concerns over the recent visit of the Chinese delegation in Nepal though the Indian leaders have also been holding talks with Nepalese leaders through various backdoor channels.
Though the China had repeatedly been claiming that it has no intention to intervene in the internal affairs of Nepal, western countries including the America have also cautiously been watching the fragile political situation of Nepal and growing Chinese concerns.
