Kathmandu, Nepal: All matches in the upcoming third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) have been granted official List A Twenty20 status by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Wednesday.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 21 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, will now carry full international statistical recognition for player records and match performances.
According to a press statement issued by CAN, the ICC initially sanctioned the league last Friday, with formal confirmation of its List A T20 status arriving on Wednesday.
"This recognition marks a significant milestone for cricket in Nepal," CAN stated in its press release. The governing body added that the classification will help elevate the standard of domestic cricket, enhance professionalism among local players, and boost Nepal’s global standing in the sport.
The NPL, organized directly by CAN, serves as the country’s marquee domestic T20 competition. The inclusion of official T20 status ensures that all runs, wickets, and individual records established during the tournament will be reflected in official career statistics recognized globally.
