Guwhaati, June 28 : A man feared dead after overflowing river Jatinga washed away him in Assam's Dima Hasao district.

The incident took place at Harangajao area, about 40 km from Haflong, district headquarter of Dima Hasao district.

According to the reports, the incident happened while the man identified as 32-year-old Raju hailing from Ditekchora village was trying to cross the overflowing river.

Pankaj Timung, a Haflong based journalist said that, the Jatinga river has been overflowed during the monsoon season and it gone dangerous.

"The locals are facing lot of problems as there is no bridge over the river. Local villagers have urged the district council, state government for several occasions to construct a bridge over the bridge," Pankaj Timung said.

Locals are engaged to rescue the man, but still untraced.

It is to be mentioned that, three persons and a truck were washed away by the overflowing Jatinga river at Harangajao area three years back.
