Guwahati, Nov 14 : While Assam gears up for panchayat polls which to be held in two phases on December 5 and 9 and several political parties announced their candidate list, miscreants had torched a vehicle of an Assam BJP leader in central Assam’s Nagaon district last night.
The incident took place at Kahaligaon village, where miscreants torched a vehicle owned by Kaliabor district BJP president Anil Saikia.
The BJP leader suspected that, some people who didn’t get party ticket to contest in the rural elections might be involved in the incident.
According to the reports, Anil Saikia had parked his Mahindra Bolero vehicle outside of his house premise and miscreants set ablaze when they were going to sleep.
“We were going to sleep at around 1-30 am and get up when hearing some sounds. The vehicle was parked outside of my home premise. We were noticed that, the vehicle was burning from front side. Some people who didn’t get party ticket might be involved in incident,” Anil Saikia said.
The BJP leader has lodged an FIR to police.
