Kathmandu, Nepal: The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has appealed to save agitating Dr. Govinda KC’s life.
The NHRC, the only constitutional Human Right watchdog of the country, has made the appeal after visiting Dr KC at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajganj.
A team of NHRC had reacted at the TUTH to acquired information about his health condition on Tuesday.
The NHRC has also urged the Government of Nepal to resolve his demands through the dialogue. Dr. KC has been staging his ninth hunger strike since September 26 reiterating his old demands that the government had already committed to fulfill.
Expressing its serious concerns over deteriorating health condition of Dr. KC, the NHRC has said in a statement that right to live of any persons should not be violated from elsewhere.
Since person’s treatment is related to right to live whatsoever be the way of protest, the Commission would like to draw the attention of the concerned side to be sensitive immediately towards saving his life, reads the statement.
