Guwahati, Aug 29 : While only a day left for publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, the NRC authority has still conducted the re-verification andhearing process in many places in the state.

On Thursday, the NRC authorities have conducted the re-verification hearing process at many places in Biswanath district.

Panic gripped among a section of people after the NRC authorities have served re verification notices and asked them to appear before the designated authorities, some outside their home district in the next 24 hours.

35-year-old Lolvanu Khatun – a resident of 4 no Kumalia village in Biswanath district is one among the people who came to the office of Block Development Officer of Sakomotha block to appear in the re-verification and hearing process.

Lolvanu said that, despite her name was appeared in the complete draft NRC, she had appeared before the NRC authorities for re-verification and hearing in many occasions.

The complete draft NRC was published on July 30 last year.

"Today, I came here again. My name was appeared in the draft NRC. But the authority had served several hearing notices and appeared before the authority in many occasions. We are very poor people. How can we come again and again," Lolvanu Khatun said.

On the other hand, some people alleged that, they got the re-verification, hearing notices today morning and asked them to appear before the designated authorities today.

60-year-old Achar Ali said that, he got the notice from the NRC authority today morning and asked him to appear before the authority today.

"I had appeared in the hearing process in many occasions. I come here again after receiving the notice today morning," Achar Ali said.

The final NRC will be published on August 31.
