Guwahati, March 30 : President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the Namami Brahmaputra Festival, the biggest ever river festival in India on Friday in  Guwahati. 
 
 
Preparations are underway on a war footing for the five-day long river festival, which will be held in Assam covering 21 districts. 
 
 
A top official of the state government said that, President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the festival at a mega function to be held on the banks of the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati at around 2-25 pm tomorrow. 
 
 
Meanwhile, tight security has been arranged in Guwahati for arrival of the President. 
 
 
The festival is set to be held in 21 districts of the state from March 31 to April 4. 
 
 
The government official said that, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will present in the mega river festival on April 2. 
 
 
On the other hand, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev is likely to present in closing ceremonial function of the festival on April 4. 
 
 
Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharati, Mahesh Sarma and several prominent personalities including 40 VVIPs would likely to present in the river festival. 
 
 
The five-day long mega river festival will showcase the culture, indigenous sports, arts, craft, skill industry, tourism, livelihood of tribes, traditional foods of the region.
