Agartala, Sep 28 : In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old woman was publicaly beaten and forced to wear a garland of shoes by a group of villager for allegedly having an extramarital affair with a man in Tripura’s Gomati district.
The incident took place at Purba Rangamati area under Amarpur sub-division in the district, where the woman, a mother of two children was thrashed by a group of women and men from a paddy field and tied her to a tree on September 26.
The mob beat her publicaly and sprayed ink on her face and forced to wear a garland of shoes for allegedly having an illicit relationship with a married man.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team had rushed to the area and rescued the victim and immediately admitted at nearest hospital.
The victim had lodged a complaint with the police and police had registered a case at Birganj police station.
Meanwhile, Gomati district police has arrested a woman in connection with the incident.
