Guwahati: Disappointed over West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) leader Mamata Banerjee‘s remarks on the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, two Assam AITMC leaders quit the party.

The two Assam AITMC leaders, who quit the party, are Diganta Saikia and Pradeep Pachoni.

On Wednesday, the two Assam AITMC leaders said that, Mamata Banerjee doesn’t know any ground reality.

“Without any knowledge she (Mamata Banerjee) has slammed the NRC. The ground reality is vast difference as Mamata Banerjee said,” Diganta Saikia said.

After over 40 lakh people excluded in the complete draft NRC published on July 30, Mamata Banerjee said that, the NRC might lead to civil war and there will be bloodshed.

Mamata also accused the BJPthe BJP that, the saffron party is playing vote-bank politics in Assam and targeted Bengalis and Biharis living in Assam.
