Kathmandu, February 12, 2026 – More than 110 students from the Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) recently had the opportunity to interact directly with corporate leadership during a special session held under the U.S.-Nepal CEO Engagement Series. The event brought together aspiring young business professionals and representatives from MetLife Nepal, offering students real-world insights into the evolving insurance and financial sectors. The session focused primarily on how digital technology, ethical leadership, and global business standards are transforming Nepal’s insurance industry.
Cultural Affairs Officer Erica Alexander opened the program and facilitated an engaging conversation with MetLife Nepal CEO Nirmal Kajee Shrestha. Drawing from his extensive experience, Shrestha explained how being part of a U.S.-affiliated company enables MetLife to uphold international standards of transparency, robust risk management, and innovation while operating within Nepal. During the discussion, he highlighted the growing role of digital platforms in streamlining insurance services and underscored the critical importance of customer trust and data protection in modern finance.
Furthermore, Shrestha addressed the necessity for skilled, ethical professionals to expand financial access nationwide, emphasizing that investing in young talent is vital to supporting Nepal’s rapidly growing digital economy. Students actively participated in the session, asking questions regarding leadership, career development, and maintaining ethical standards in a competitive business environment. For many, the experience provided practical insights that extended well beyond traditional classroom learning.
Organizers noted that programs like the U.S.-Nepal CEO Engagement Series are designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry. By connecting Nepali students with U.S.-affiliated companies, the initiative not only prepares young professionals for careers in modern finance but also strengthens the long-standing commercial and educational ties between Nepal and the United States.
