KATHMANDU, February 12, 2026 – Foreign Minister, Bala Nanda Sharma, welcomed New Zealand’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Patrick John Rata, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today for a cordial and constructive meeting.
The discussion centered on deepening bilateral relations and boosting cooperation between the two nations. Both leaders agreed that stronger diplomatic ties, increased trade and investment, and closer people-to-people connections are essential to building a lasting partnership. They also explored collaboration in key areas such as education, tourism, sustainable development, and climate action.
Foreign Minister Sharma highlighted Nepal’s commitment to partnerships that promote mutual growth and regional stability. Meanwhile, Ambassador Rata expressed New Zealand’s eagerness to engage more closely with Nepal and support initiatives that benefit both countries.
