Kathmandu, Nepal: The Supreme Court (SC) the apex Court of the country, as on Thursday issued an order to the government to stop act of sacrificing animals during Gadhimai fair.
A division bench of justices Ishwori Prasad Khatiwada and Anil Kumar Sinha directed the government terming it as ‘cruel act.’ Likewise, the bench has also directed the government to form a special committee to take appropriate measure to halt the inhuman act of slaughtering animals at Gadhimai fair.
Responding to the writ filed by advocate Arjun Kumar Aryal had, on 20 November 2014, demanding the animal slaughter be stopped at Gadhimai, the SC has made the verdict also adding that slaughtering animals in mass is not a good thing from the view point of the environment as well.
