Kathmandu, Nepal: Jeet Jung Basnet has been picked as the President of Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD), the youth wing of ruling Nepali Congress (NC), the only oldest democratic party of the country.
The key posts of the NTD were picked through the consensus among the four different factions of the Nepali Congress- one led by party president Sher bahadur Deuba and three remaining are led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Khum Bahadur Khadka.
Newly picked Basnet is considered close to NC President Deuba while another newly picked General Secretary Bhupendra Sahi is considered close to NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
Similarly, Bidhwan Gurung, who is considered close to leader Khum Bahadur Khadka, has been picked as the Treasurer and Uttam Kumar Chapagain close to leader Krishna Sitaula has been picked as the vice-president of the NTD.
