Janakpur, Nepal, March 28, 2019: The District Court of Dhanusha has slapped a life term on former parliamentarian Sanjay Sah ‘Takala’ for his involvement in 2012 Janakpur blast that had claimed the lives of five people and left about three dozen injured.
With the landmark verdict of the District Court of Dhanusha, two senior leaders of the Rastrya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) faced life term on the charge of murder of the innocent people. Eelier, court had issued similar life term against lawmaker Resham Chaudhary.
Responding to the writ petition filed in the court on the charge of blast and murdering the innocent people, a bench of District Court Justice Rajesh Kumar Katuwal made the verdict of life term on Thursday against seven persons including Takla.
The deadly bomb blast had taken place at Ramanand Chowk of Janakpur on April 30, 2012 in the midst a peaceful hunger strike launched by the locals demanding Mithila state. In the blast, Ranju Jha, Bimal Upadhyay, Suresh Upadhyay, Jhagaru Das and Dipendra Das had lost lives.
Takla had been remaining in police custody for the last six years on the charge of masterminding the blast. He was elected as a member of the second Constituent Assembly from Janakpur just few months before the blast.
