Kathmandu, Nepal, April 19, 2022: The seventh agriculture census is going to begin from Tuesday. Central Bureau of Statistics has stated that 5,200 enumerators and 1,300 supervisors have been deployed for the agriculture census.
The agriculture census that takes place every 10 years will continue for 45 days including 19 days for collecting data. According to the Deputy Director General at Central Bureau of Statistics, Hemraj Regmi, the supervisors will visit the houses of total 350,000 farmers at 753 local levels of all 77 districts to collect details about agricultural activities in the country.
In the agriculture census, which had begun in Nepal since 2018 BS, used to be collected details about livestock farming, crops and fishery related activities. The bureau has set different 24 questions related to agricultural activities including the condition of arable and barren lands and fertilizers.
Though Nepal is known as the agricultural country, agriculture and livestock farming has contributed just about 27 percent to the gross domestic product. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, around 66 percent population is engaged in agriculture sector.
