Kathmandu, Nepal: The chairperson of the Local Bodies Restructuring Commission (LBRC), Balananda Paudel , has said that final report regarding the number of local bodies with demarcations will be submitted to the government by October 16.
Poudel has made the revelation about the deadline to submit the report while speaking at an interaction program organized in Kathmandu on Friday. We will work even in the Dashain festival to meet the deadline, Poudel said.
According to Paudel, the Commission already received preliminary reports from 48 districts. ‘Though remaining 27 other districts have yet to submit the report, it is expected that the remaining districts would not delay to submit the preliminary reports,’ Poudel said in the interaction program.
As the commission had already reveled about the approximate number of local bodies without consultations in the local level, some political parties had stand against the report. Earlier the Commission had stated that 565 local bodies will remain in the country.
As the Election commission has demanded the finalization of the local units to initiate the preparation for the local body elections, the government has been exerting pressure to the commission for early submission of the report.
