Kathmandu, Nepal: At least nine mountaineers- five Korean and four Nepalese nationals- have been killed due to the massive avalanche near to the base camp of Mt. Gurja (7,193 metres).
Mt Gurja is the mountain of the south face of Mt. Dhaulagiri located at Magdi district.
Wangchu Sherpa, Managing Director at Trekking Camp Nepal has confirmed the incident adding that five Korean climbers in support of four Nepali had moved to the mountain under the leadership of South Korean national Kim Chang-ho.
The team leader Kim is recognized as familiar figure in the mountaineering sector as he is the first Korean national to summit 14 peaks above 8,000m without using supplemental oxygen.
