Kathmandu, Nepal: Ramadan, the holy month as per the Islamic religion, has begun from Sunday. Muslim community around the world including in Nepal used to observe the holy month as festival with the belief to promote self-discipline, sacrifice and empathy.
 
According to the Islamic calendar, ninth month of the lunar calendar is observed by the Muslims as Roza (fasting). As per the religion Roza is mandatory for all Muslims. Muslim people observe Roza by keeping their body pure and reciting the holy Quran five times a day regularly. 
 
The Muslim community used to observe the month by dividing into three parts- first ten days as Barakkat, another ten days as love and care and the final ten days as Magafirat that mean forgiveness from Islamic god Allah.  Ramadan ends with the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr at the end of the month.
