Kathmandu, Nepal, October 29, 2023: The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Kathmandu early this morning today.
The Secretary-General Guterres was received by Minister for Foreign Affairs, N.P Saud, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, and other senior officials of the Nepal Government. The Secretary-General was also accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
UN Secretary-General Guterres is on a four-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
The Secretary-General is scheduled to meet with the President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other high ranking dignitaries during his stay in Nepal.
According to a officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Prime Minister Dahal is going to host an official banquet in honour of the visiting Secretary-General Guterres.
Secretary-General Guterres is accompanied by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean Pierre Lacroix, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations to Nepal Hanaa Singer-Hamdy and other officials from the UN Headquarters in New York and the United Nations country team in Nepal.
