Kathmandu, Nepal: An avalanche triggered by an earthquake of early morning on Monday claims life of a person on Mount Amadablam.
High altitude worker named Lakpa Thindu Sherpa, a permanent resident of Pangboche, Solukhumbu district, lost life in the avalanche.
British climber Ciaran Hill was injured in the incident. However, other remaining members of the 13 member team are safe.
It is said that Sherpa breathed his last while being airlifted to Lukla from Camp III of the 6,812-metre high mountain.
Deceased Sherpa’s body has been sent to the Maharajganj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
A moderate earthquake of local magnitude 5.6 was reported in the border area of Ramechhap and Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal at around 5:20 am on Monday morning.
