Pokhara, Nepal, April 29, 2021: ‘Gangster-turned-politician’ Rajib Gurung aka Dipak Manange has been appointed as the Minister for Youth and Sports of the Gandaki provincial government on Thursday.  

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung appointed Manange as the Minister extending his cabinet. He was sworn in as Minister amid a function on Thursday. 


Chief Minister Gurung extended his cabinet just a day after the no-confidence motion registered against of his government had not proceeded on Wednesday due to the absence of lawmakers including Manange. 

Manange was elected from Manang (B) in the 2017 provincial elections. Though he had filed his candidacy under independent category, we was elected from the vote of the ruling CPN UML as it had not filed candidacy to support Manange. 

Manange used to be alleged as gangster for his controversial role in the past. He had also served jail sentences for his alleged unlawful activities.
