Ilam, Nepal: At least eight persons killed and dozens missing when a boat capsize in the Maikhola River of Ilam district on Friday afternoon.
The District Police Office has confirmed that the boat had carrying about 40 persons; among them only 18 are rescued alive and remaining are still missing in the river.
The incident had occurred at around 2 pm on Friday. The police and the local people have been searching the missing persons in the river. It is feared that the missing persons would not be found alive.
The capsized boat was traveling from Daanabari to Mahamai and the passengers were going to their relatives for Dashain tika.
As the boat was found near Chandalghat, which is over 2 Kilometers away from the river, the rescuers have failed to trace the location where the missing people would have drowned.
